BOT WAR

Bot War is a 10mm skirmish wargame played on a 3'x3' table. While the scale is 10mm, Bots and other creatures range from 20mm for the smallest Bot to 140mm for the huge combined Bots. The story takes place on an alternate Earth and revolves around two main protagonists: The Democracy, a reflection of 1980s USA, and Atlantica, an underwater kingdom inspired by Atlantis. There are 10 different factions and the game opens after a major, devastating war between The Democracy and Atlantica in which the arrival of Bots saved the Democracy from destruction and slavery. Welcome to Bot War!

DEMOCRACY

Despite the Democracy's three year alliance with the Valiants, they still distrust Bot technology. The Democracy forces are made up of highly trained specialists working as a tight-knit team. They excel in stealth tactics and guerrilla warfare. They rely on regular tanks, helicopters, and other traditional military equipment to do any heavy lifting that is required. The Democracy has perfected this method of war to the point that they can now hold their own against enemy bot forces.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

A new addition to Max Starr's Special Branch, Sloane Paulson is a veteran of the first Atlantican war. She lost her parents to one of the first Atlantican barrages at just 17 years old. Her school was also destroyed in that same barrage but, thankfully at the time, she was skipping school with her two friends after stealing their father's car. Since that time, Sloane has become a hardened warrior and gifted pilot. At just 20 years of age she lives life on the edge, taking risks many would not. Her survivability has been helped because, not only is Sloane a skilful warrior, she is also incredibly lucky.

Skills, determination, a vendetta against Atlantica for the death of her parents (not the destruction of the school), and an amazing lucky streak made Sloane Paulson a perfect pick to pilot Airblade. Airblade is a souped up 1984 Lamborghini Contach with Bot technology running through its veins, able to change from angry street car into supersonic jump jet at the flick of a button. Armed with twin gatling guns and two air to air sidewinder missiles, Airblade is Democracy style and punch wrapped up in a single beautiful machine.

Candy used to spend her days selling balloons and delivering songagrams dressed as the Balloon Bear. It was an ok job, and Candy had the bright personality for it, until one day she was booked for a corporate gig for a science lab called COILS. They were a reputable company and they paid really well for the booking. Everything went well, she delivered her balloons, sang her song and was about to leave when all hell broke loose. Its hard to describe the chaos of that first day.

Needless to say, everyone in the facility except Candy died. Candy only survived because she was a bear at the time and not a human. When confronted with the steel malicious entity that attacked the scientists, she had enough sense not to panic and instead to pretend she was a bear. Twice this ruse worked to fool the gigantic evil machine. As COILs security opened fire with ever heavier weaponry, Candy played bear. As the vicious machine destroyed those guards, Candy survived. For over a week Candy survived shut up in that cavernous and maze-like facility. She lost count of the close encounters with the machine, who simply ignored the bear. If anything, it seemed now used to seeing the bear and no longer stalled to regard it. The machine was busying itself building a complex system of machines using the remains of the lab.

Often it disappeared for days and and only on the last day did Candy learn where it went. Deep at the lowest level of the facility, a large portal was set up. Often the large Bot would examine it in great detail for hours on end. It was during this last discovery that Candy finally found her way out through a lower-level vent access shaft. Taking her chance, she ditched the bear suit that had been her salvation and climbed the relatively intact shaft to freedom. Once on the surface she realised that the surface was relatively untouched. She jumped into her Balloon van and floored it at breakneck speed. Candy's harrowing ordeal would break most people, but the opposite happened for Candy. Her ordeal made her strong and determined, fierce even. The Atlantican invasion happened that same year and Candy joined the resistance. Her fierceness saw Candy rise quickly through the ranks of the resistance and when the Atlanticans retreated, Candy was an obvious choice for Max Starr's Special Branch.

Candy pilots Big Bear. Big Bear is a Bot tech injected monster truck that converts to a go-anywhere light tank. Armoured, with duel auto-loading 20mm front-mounted cannons as its primary armament, Big Bear also carries a heavy bombard Bot artillery piece and a satellite direct communications link. This technology accurately coordinates bombard shell trajectory to 0.0001 of a millimetre. Candy and Big Bear are a formidable force for the Democracy's enemies to deal with no matter who they are.

Tom Rockford was an ex cop who didn't give a damn. He grew up in the hood and was a tough as they come. His very name within the community was to be respected, or else. He was a legend in the streets. When the Atlanticans invaded, Rockford was having none of it. It is said that as the Atlantican garrisons went house to house they missed Rockford's crappy apartment on purpose. When they did finally get the courage to knock on the door, they did so in numbers. The first ten weren't enough though, so a whole battalion was sent to bring this upstart human to heal. The resulting fight saw 15 Atlanticans down and Rockford bursting out the back in his Trans Am Firebird, all guns blazing. Skillfully dodging two Sandcrawlers, his ride was hit by a heat round from a third Sandcrawler. Rockfords stunned body was unceremonially dragged from the wreckage to face some true Atlantican justice.

Rockford spent a week staked out on the roof of his apartment before he was rescued by a small group of local kids that had been resisting the occupation. Unfortunately for the Atlanticans, Rockford was now pissed off. The resulting anarchy made Atlantican troops fear the poor quarter that Rockford called home. Rockford single-handedly drew off more and more Atlantican resources to his area of the city. Only as the Atlantican commander decided to completely level the whole poor quarter, the war turned and the Atlanticans started to withdraw.

Rockford needed some convincing to join Max Starr's Special Branch. Usually he just doesn't gel well with the la-de-da of Democracy society that Max is a part of, and only when Max promised to rebuild Rockford's Firebird did he finally agree. Phoenix is a souped up 1979 Trans Am Firebird infused with Bot technology. Phoenix can deliver a rack of radar-guided ground-to-ground or ground-to-air missiles at high speed, deploying and delivering its deadly payload within seconds.

Rockford and Phoenix have a synergy not found in some of the other Special Branch members. This is because Phoenix is actually Rockford's rebuilt Firebird, and the car and Rockford share an aggressive don't mess with me vibe. Where once the common 12 gauge was Rockford's weapon of choice, now Phoenix is Rockford's 12 gauge for Bots. His signature move is driving at top speed right up to where a Bot is standing, opening the bonnet, and giving the Bot a full 4-shot salvo straight to the chest.

This set comes with enough parts to make Sloane Paulson's Airblade, Tom Rockford's Phoenix, Candy's Big Bear. This is a resin multipart kit. Superglue required for assembly (not included). This set comes with 3 x 40mm and black plastic bases and 1 flight stand. Models supplied unassembled and unpainted.
